Birth

Born in Homs, Syria, in 1946.

Education

  • Obtained his high school diploma in 1965–1966.
  • Enrolled at VUT University in Brno, Czechoslovakia, in 1966.
  • Received a Master’s degree in Petrochemical Plant Engineering and Construction in 1972.

Experience and Career

  • His graduation project included designing a distillation tower and its components for a special type of crude oil, as well as designing and supervising the construction of an absorption tower for extracting ammonia from air.
  • In 1972, he worked at the Nitrogen Fertilizer Plant in Homs as Head of the Calnitro Department and Technical Specifications Auditor.
  • After the 1973 war, he worked with the Lebanese company Zakhm in repairing oil tanks at the Tartous terminal that had been bombed during the war, and supervised the installation of three floating-roof tanks, each with a capacity of 45,000 tons of oil.
  • Served as Head of the Ammonia-Urea Unit Implementation Group with the French company Creusot-Loire.
  • In 1978, he was appointed at the General Company for the Implementation of Industrial Projects, where he supervised the following projects:
    • Oxygen and Nitrogen Plant at the Homs Refinery
    • Automated Discharge Unit at the Homs Sugar Plant
    • Southern Grain Silos in Homs
    • Refrigeration Unit in Hama
    • Cement Silos in Kafr Buhum
  • In 1982, he worked in Saudi Arabia as Project Manager for laying 400 km of oil pipelines with diameters of 60 and 80 inches.
  • Executed the 18-inch Al-Azba gas pipeline across Deir ez-Zor.
  • Worked with Mitsubishi on the construction of the Jandar Power Plant, and later on the Aleppo Power Plant with a capacity of 750 megawatts, then as Assistant in building the cooling towers at the Zara Power Plant in Homs.
  • Contracted to rehabilitate the Baniyas Power Plant and installed several steam boilers with a capacity of 50 tons of steam per hour.
  • Received multiple Certificates of Appreciation from French, British, and German companies for his effective contributions to completing assigned projects in accordance with international standards and for his commitment to delivering projects on schedule.

Current Work and Hobbies

His hobbies include drawing, calligraphy, wood engraving, zajal (folk poetry), and gardening.

Currently works as a full-time Technical Consultant.

In his youth, he was a member of Khaled Sports Club, the Scout Troop, and later joined swimming and motorcycle clubs in Czechoslovakia.
